Jewelry
Roxbury is well known for the Almandine Garnets we have. These are not precious gems, but because of their hardness, they were used at the turn of the century for paving Roxbury roads and for sanding. They are a beautifully natural faceted mineral, they're 12 sided stones, and are difficult to set. I have always wanted to make jewelry and I finally found a way to do that. They are also the Connecticut state mineral.
My jewelry is made by sculpting Precious Metal Clay into each shape, setting the stones, and firing them in the kiln, burning away the clay, leaving behind the finished product, a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry, made from pure silver and garnet.
